Hello, welcome to put her forwardan artwork by non zero one, commissioned by Heritage Open Days, that recognises living women who have positively impacted the people around them.

With your nominations we aimed to double the statues of non-mythical, non-royal women in England by September 2018.

Thank you so much to everyone who nominated a woman. On this website you can find out more about the project, the 25 women who were selected and where they were unveiled.

But we don’t plan to stop here. For future put her forward activities and events please check back to this website or sign up to the non zero one newsletter.

Here’s how it worked:

Nominate: the public told us about a living women they thought deserved to have her own statue. These nominations were made in person at one of our workshops or live nomination gatherings, or could be made via an online form.

Listen to a sound artwork by Helen Atkinson showcasing some of the amazing nominations we received:

Make: 25 nominees were selected to be 3D scanned and 3D printed into photo-real sandstone figures

Unveil: we unveiled the statues across England during the Heritage Open Days weekends, 6-9 and 13-16 September 2018. Each unveiling took place in a different location, linked with each woman’s story and where each woman is based now.

Here you can watch a video of Iby’s unveiling, which took place at The Tetley in Leeds:
